A Big Irish Heart for Houston

Supporting a community in need one sip at a time...

Houston is a city of many names. And while the Texas metropolis is officially dubbed "Space City" thanks to its most famous space-traveling denizen – ahem, NASA – H-Town (a local favorite) earned itself a new nickname back in 2006 in the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina: The Big Heart. As some 150,000 New Orleanians called out, "Houston, we have a problem," Magnolia City (an older moniker) rose to the occasion and provided what's regarded as one of the largest sheltering operations in the country's history to those in need.

As we all now know, Houston now finds itself in a similar state of need in the wake of the deluge and flooding brought on by Hurricane Harvey. Encouraged by the example once set by The Big Heart, Annie Bailey's has teamed up with the Junior League of Lancaster and Jameson Irish Whiskey to offer what support we can from right here in Lancaster.

On September 1, we debuted "The Big Irish Heart" cocktail – a sunny blend of Jameson Irish Whiskey, banana & peach schnapps, sour & soda – with the goal of raising money to support the cleanup and relief efforts in Houston. We will be donating $1 for every Big Irish Heart sold, and the kind folks at Jameson Irish Whiskey will match that and donate a $1 as wellthe proceeds of which will be sent to the Junior League of Houston to help fund their work with so many awesome community organizations in Houston.

The Big Irish Heart promo runs through Saturday, September 16, so hurry in to enjoy the sweet taste of philanthropy. And if booze isn't your thing, here's a link to make a financial contribution to the Junior League of Houston's relief efforts in Houston.
